Counselor’s Corner
Layla (Glover) Nations, M.A., is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She conducts various counseling groups throughout the year to address different topics, such as social skills, ADHD, self esteem, and divorce. She is also available for individual counseling. Mrs. Nations is the Mentor Coordinator for the campus.
Laura Andrade, M. Ed. is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is our campus’s 504 coordinator and also sees students in groups and individually. Mrs. Andrade is the Volunteer Coordinator for Cedar Creek Intermediate School (CCI). She is at CCI on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday mornings. She is at Cedar Creek Middle School when not at CCI.
Students can be referred to the counselor by his/her parents or may sign up to see the counselor in the office. Students presenting a concern within the school may be referred by staff members. If regular, continuing counseling is needed, a parent permission form will be sent home. Counseling services provided in the school are usually of short duration to facilitate students’ readiness to learn; students needing additional counseling should seek assistance outside of the school. We will be happy to assist with referrals. Please see the Community Resource List below.
