MINA GARDEN
We are preparing our fall garden and looking forward to watching it grow in the coming months!! I’m sure you’ve noticed the dirt has been tilled thanks to a wonderful parent! Seeds are beginning to sprout and grow! A big thanks to Mr. Art, teachers and students for their hard work. Also, "Thanks." to Walmart for donating seedlings!
TARDIES
As with any profession, it’s difficult to understand the difficulties unless you have walked in that person’s shoes. Good teachers feel a tremendous responsibility to educate and care for 20 plus children each and every day. I know most persons respect doctors and other workers enough not to be consistently late for appointments. In fact, it isn’t always tolerated. We ask for that same respect in getting children to school on time. The teacher is to sit down and begin their instruction immediately after the bell rings, stopping for announcements and then continuing. When late children consistently interrupt, not only are they having a negative effect on their own learning, but on the others in the classroom as well. It is extremely frustrating for a teacher to have to stop over and over again. PLEASE do
all you can to have children here on time. Students will be counted tardy as of 7:50. Tardies will be counted each nine weeks and will be entered into the student’s permanent record. I know that emergencies occur and that is understood. Please limit tardies to those “emergency” days.
FLU UPDATE
The district continues to work with the health department on any H1N1 concerns. It is critical to all that children who are not well be kept at home. If your child has flu-like symptoms (fever of 100 or above, sore throat, lack of appetite, headache, coughing or chills), they need to be kept home and may return to school when they are fever free for 24 hours without the aid of a fever-reducing medication. Student’s temperatures will be checked upon return to school. Remember to encourage good hygiene – washing of hands, coughing into the elbow, throwing any tissues away promptly, etc.
GREENSHEET
We will continue the Greensheet coming home every other Thursday. You can also access it here on the Mina website.
